The year is so far gone and here we are, gearing up towards another.I was so amazed when I received a Christmas catalogue in the post asking me to get shopping. C’mon, are we that in a hurry? ☺
This year has been full of lessons. Some learnt painfully. God is bringing me out of some places. He is cutting off certain relationships and is opening me up to new ones.
Now,I can’t tell how you will feel ,but for me, it hurts leaving people or places I cherish. It is a difficult process. But,sometimes, the process is necessary for a shift,a change to take place.
I found myself praying and the word ‘shift’ kept resting in my spirit.I was led to the book of Hebrews and read about how by faith Abraham when he was called to go to a place where he will later have as inheritance, he obeyed and went though he did not know where he was going. How easy would it have been for him to leave his present comfort to another place? To leave behind some of the people he loved and to just go.Now, how Father Abraham felt then, I guess you and I can only imagine . Look up Hebrews 11 if you have got a minute ☺.
Hours later, I paid a visit to my best friend , iTunes as I’m always updating my library for my radio programmes and ‘Genius’ suggested a song . There it was ‘Shift’ by Brandon Pair & United Voices of Praise .The lyrics – I could hear God speak to me clearly. There and then, I had that Aha moment. So,God used His Word, His spirit in me, and the song to confirm that this was a season of a shift.
I looked up the onlinedictionary.com for ‘a shift,to shift, shifting’ , and here is what I found :
1. To move or transfer from one place or position to another…
2. To alter (position or place)…
3. To alter as part of a systematic historical change.*******
1. To change position, direction, place, or form.
2. To change gears, as when driving an automobile.
1.A change from one person or configuration to another
2.A change in direction: a shift in the wind
3.A change in attitude, judgment, or emphasis
4.A change in position
5. a.(Football) A rearrangement of players from one formation to another just prior to the snap of the ball.*******
b. (Baseball) A rearrangement of one or more fielders for improved defense against a particular hitter.
6.Physics A change in wavelength, causing a movement of a spectral band or line.
Maybe you, like me is experiencing a shifting moment. May be you feel like everything seems strange. But hey, when a shift is taking place, some things are moved ,some replaced, some, they just go, never to return.
When the wind blows ,it sweeps away some stuff. So does a SHIFT.Is God shifting some things in your life? Is He causing a change that can ONLY happen with a shift ?
We have got a choice in the process.
1.To ALLOW him SHIFT- remove ,take away for good, replace, exchange, renew, bring anew…
2.To RESIST -withstand,refuse change,remain stagnant,immovable…
The choice is really, really down to us.
My prayer is : Lord I’m READY for a SHIFT,a MOVE into Your GLORY.. I hear the sound of the wind shifting.
The song ‘SHIFT’ by Brandon Pair & United Voices of Praise would bless you. It’s on iTunes.
