I am not my sin!

Romans 3:23

Wow, is it not so incredible that God can use someone the world considers a ‘beyond measure sinner’ to do mighty works? He must really be such a forgiving Man to deliver a ‘message ‘of freedom through one who has abused the gift of liberty! From the look of things since creation, I have gathered that God sure does not mind using a 419(fraudster) to bring a message of integrity; an adulterer to preach fidelity, a prostitute to portray a Proverbs 31 woman, a liar to teach the importance of honesty, a fornicator to bring news on the power of ‘sex’, someone who has committed an abortion to teach on the value of life, blood and forgiveness, a murder to bring on the 10 laws of life. Remember, it is often said ‘experience is the best teacher’. What better way to say it than when you have been through it. That being so, I would gladly embrace a man who speaks from the struggles of his life and from his heart than a man merely speaking from a book.

Let us look at Moses. He was a very angry man. Angry enough to kill. ‘One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labour. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?” The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.” Exodus 2:11-23.

Moses reacted in a very human way when he saw the injustice against his own and the mean treatment they were receiving. (I guess you and I will protect any person we love as much as Moses did and even more.)There and then, he sinned greatly but you know what, God still considered him worthy to be used to free his people from the hands of Pharaoh. He even asked Moses to write down the laws by which His children must now live by- the 10 commandments (one of which he had previously broken).Wow!

Many a times, we fail to experience true freedom or receive a message because we fix our gaze on the ‘man and his sin’ and not the ‘Hand of God’ mightily using them to bring salvation. We fail to separate the ‘Man’ from the ‘Message’! The man is open to flaws but the message is Divine. We hinder our ability to receive the blessing in the message because we believe the man with the message has failed and so is unworthy to speak. Imagine the Israelites had refused to listen to Moses because of his sin!I am pretty sure there would not have been any parting of the red sea or deliverance from Pharaoh and the Egyptians.God is such a Judge, yet He refuses to be judgemental like his own creation. As far as the east is from the west, He gladly removes our transgression from us.What makes it better is that He ‘remembers them NO MORE’! He separates man from his sin. I believe we should learn lesson or two from God’s virtue.

I may have fallen and sinned but I am not my sin. Neither are you. The fact that I have sinned does not mean I remain a sin and can never recover from its consequences or change for the better. It is so annoying when we are too hypocritical and act as if we are immune from a downfall and are so ‘together’ when in fact we are so ‘not together’. Look up to God from whom the ‘Message’ comes and not the ‘Man’ the one through whom the message is revealed. It is God’s grace keeping us on our feet. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you do not fall,Cor 10:12.Do not sit there and look me through the eyes of the sin committed. God sees me though His eye of mercy .He chastises me meaning I may endure the consequences but after all is said and done,my trespasses,He trashes away into the sea of forgetfulness.

God solves our issues His way and not ours. So we would do us great pleasure not to condemn but to speak the truth in love and pray for and help towards the restoration of the brethren who has erred.Amazing grace is about being lost and being found. For as many times as we get lost, there is always grace to be found again. God can use us regardless of what has been said or done! He has a need for his people to grow and He will use any readily available vessel-saint or sinner.

Selah!
