‘The most thoroughly wasted of all days is that on which one has not laughed.’
Laughter is a stress-free instant vacation. It is priceless and readily available. Above all, laughter has healing virtues with the ability to help you surmount problems .It supports physical and emotional health. The book of life says, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22)
Where there is laughter, peace and joy will always prevail. I am growing to laugh more and more and I can attest that it makes you feel better about yourself, the people we love and the ones who love us. I will also boldly say laughter helps in building self-esteem thus allowing you see life in a more realistic and less threatening point of view.
Genuine laughter is being able to laugh at yourself and others as well as having others laugh at you without feeling belittled or overwhelmed. Laugh at yourself, your mistakes-those stupid stuff said or done. Surround yourself with people in whose presence you are comfortable and able to laugh unreservedly.
According to studies, we need at least 12 laughs a day to stay healthy. Having more of it increases our chances of a better, healthier and longer life.
*Research shows that the convulsion that happens during the process of laughter helps to boost the immune system function and helps clear out old, dead waste products from our body organs and tissues.
*Through laughter, we take in vast amounts of oxygen and repeating this process is essential to sustain life.
*Laughing also boosts blood circulation. As we laugh,we help in the pumping of blood thus allowing a free and smooth flow.
*The more and harder we laugh, the more we exercise our abdominal and face muscles. Have you noticed that when you laugh hysterically, your tummy muscles expand and they hurt? Well, that is good exercise, and it is one in which we should constantly engage in.
*Laughter can also fight the negative consequences of stress, pain, anxiety, etc.
*Laughter builds up connection and intimacy. It triggers positive feelings thus fostering emotional connection. When this bond is created, it helps enhance relationships leaving little room for quarrels, fights, disagreements, and disappointments.
There is so much that goes on in the world and in your life on a daily basis but do not let the temporary happenings steal away your laughter.Find a way to get laughter each day even if it means being a little weird. It is a fun, free, and easy to use medicine. I pray God will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting. Go ahead and laugh and laugh!
‘’A person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused!’’
“The person who can bring the spirit of laughter into a room is indeed blessed.” Bennett Cerf (American Author, Publisher, Editor and Founder of Random House. 1898-1971).
